For more information regarding rhinoplasty, please contact our Buffalo practice - serving patients from Niagara Falls, Rochester, and beyond.
Although one's nose may not receive as many compliments as one's eyes or smile, its contours nonetheless contribute greatly to the overall aesthetic appeal of the face. If a person's nose does not blend in well with the surrounding facial features, its size and shape can draw undue and unwelcome attention. Some patients may also need nose surgery in order to correct breathing and respiratory problems. Dr. David Sherris performs rhinoplasty surgery to reshape the contours of the nose for both cosmetic and functional purposes. He can bring the nose into harmonious balance with the entire face and at the same time reshape it so that the patient can breathe more easily. Our practice provides rhinoplasty procedures for patients from Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester, and throughout the Northeast, in addition to other facial procedures such as the facelift and brow lift. Some patients may benefit from combining rhinoplasty with a chin implant in order to balance their facial features.
Dr. Sherris' advanced training in rhinoplasty allows him to reshape the nose for both form and function. One of the leading facial plastic surgeons in the region, Dr. Sherris has been honored by the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery for his educational contributions to the field of facial plastic surgery and rhinology. Dr. Sherris has taught rhinoplasty courses to surgeons at the Mayo Clinic and in many countries around the world, and he is a frequent lecturer on functional rhinoplasty to numerous professional organizations. His technical skill and his eye for beauty enable him to produce excellent rhinoplasty results for his patients from Buffalo , Niagara, Falls, Rochester, and the surrounding areas. Over half of the nose contouring procedures that Dr. Sherris performs are rhinoplasty revisions for patients who are not satisfied with the previous nose contouring outcomes that they received from other surgeons.
In most cases, Dr. David Sherris will perform what is called an "open rhinoplasty" in order to reshape nasal contours with as much precision as possible. After making an incision across the columella (the central base of the nose located beneath the nostrils), Dr. Sherris will reshape the cartilage in order to achieve ideal nasal symmetry and size. Sometimes a closed rhinoplasty is performed if it is in the patient's best interests. In a closed rhinoplasty, an incision is made inside the nostril.
After the rhinoplasty procedures, Dr. Sherris will give you detailed instructions to follow so that you can ensure yourself of having a safe and expedient recovery period. Patients will be able to return to work approximately one week after the procedure, and the majority of swelling should subside a couple weeks thereafter.
