Double board-certified
Dr. Sherris is board-certified by two separate medical boards: the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He has also completed fellowship training in facial plastic surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Teaching procedures to other surgeons
For nearly a decade, Dr. Sherris was a staff member at the prestigious Mayo Clinic. It was there that he held several prominent positions, including Associate Professor of the Department of Otolaryngology and Chairman of the Facial Plastic Surgery Division. Today, Dr. Sherris is the Interim Chairman of Otolaryngology of the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. In addition, he is the Interim Clinical Services Director for the Department of Otolaryngology at Kaleida Health.

Published author and respected leader
Dr. Sherris has authored over 70 scientific publications and two textbooks, including Essential Surgical Skills, which teaches surgeons of all disciplines. For years, Dr. Sherris has served on the Young Physicians Committee and the Ethics Committee for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the largest professional organization of facial plastic surgeons in the world. In 2001, he became Chairman of the Young Physicians Committee.

Upholding the standards of facial plastic surgery care
As a guest examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Sherris gives oral certifying examinations in facial plastic surgery to every ENT surgeon in the United States who is applying for board certification. He was also a member of the Task Force on New Materials for the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. There he wrote the in-service test questions that are given to every ENT surgeon in training as preparation for their board exams.

Lecturer, researcher and award winner
Dr. Sherris has been a guest lecturer and surgeon in countries all over the world, including Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, England, the Middle East, Panama, Czechoslovakia and the United States. He has received numerous awards for his groundbreaking research, excellence in patient care and dedication.
